Mug ShotMr. Guay is a former examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) where from 1993 to 2000, he examined applications in the semiconductor art including semiconductor devices, their use in integrated circuit technology and methods of fabricating semiconductor devices. Mr. Guay has been a patent agent in private practice since leaving the USPTO in 2000.

In private practice with Nixon Peabody LLP, and before that with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius and Burns, Doane, Swecker & Mathis, LLP, Mr. Guay handled matters relating to semiconductor devices, packaging and fabrication methods, MEMS, NEMS and other nano-sized devices, fiber optics, optical disc systems, computer-related organization of data and the processing of data, digital and analog communication and tracking systems (e.g., 3G, radar, GPS-based guidance systems), codecs, and other electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical arts. He has also prepared and prosecuted business-related patent applications. During the two years Mr. Guay was with Nixon Peabody LLP, he also assisted both Mr. Studebaker and Mr. Brackett with matters on behalf of numerous multinational clients, including many of the current clients of Studebaker & Brackett PC.

Mr. Guay received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Before leaving the USPTO, Mr. Guay was the recipient of the Department of Commerce Bronze Medal in 2000.
