Mug ShotMr. Brackett is a co-founder of Studebaker & Brackett PC. His practice is primarily directed to patent preparation and prosecution in the United States for both domestic and foreign clients. He also provides counseling and opinions concerning infringement, validity, enforceability of patents, and design around strategies. He has experience in creating and implementing corporate intellectual property programs, conducting intellectual property audits, developing and implementing patent filing strategies, and conducting intellectual property due diligence studies.

Mr. Brackett has over 20 years experience in handling patent matters in a wide variety of technologies including the electrical, mechanical, and software arts. He has particular experience in power generation including vehicle, engine, and emissions solutions technologies, electronic components, computer systems, automated system controls, business methods, medical devices, and automated tools.

Mr. Brackett received his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law and a degree in Marine Engineering Systems, with honors, from the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He began his career with the patent law firm of Sixbey, Friedman, Leedom & Ferguson in McLean, Virginia, and later joined the firm of Nixon Peabody LLC as a partner until co-founding Studebaker & Brackett PC.

Mr. Brackett is admitted to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the Virginia Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Intellectual Property Owners Association.
