Trainee Program

Studebaker & Brackett believes in forging long-term relationships that allow for continuity of services over the years.

With our overseas clients in mind, Studebaker & Brackett PC offers both short and long term training programs designed to:

  • Expose trainees to US patent law and patent practice;
  • Broaden trainees’ exposure to our office practices;
  • Assist trainees in preparing for the US patent bar exam; and
  • Provide the opportunity to expand their English language skills.

Our client’s trainees are encouraged to work on their company’s or firm’s matters with support from our professionals who can provide detailed instruction and guidance on various issues pertaining to their work. Many of our professionals have practiced in the patent field for over 20 years and most have significant experience as former U.S. Patent Examiners. Trainees will be exposed to the practical aspects of U.S. patent application preparation and prosecution. Further, several of our professionals are fluent in the Japanese language to assist our trainees.

The training program is geared toward the interests and goals of the trainee. Trainees will have the opportunity to participate in lectures on various topics relating to U.S. patent practice as well as discussions relating to law firm operations. Mr. Tatsuo Yabe heads our educational group and maintains our web page dedicated to U.S. Patent Related Information in Japanese (http://www.Tatsuoyabe.aki.gs/). One aspect of our program encourages the trainee to choose one or more topics to research and present to our group. This preparation and presentation by the trainee will increase their awareness of the topic as well as expand their English speaking skills. Additionally, our Japanese speaking staff will be available to assist with the preparation of the presentations as well as provide them with a comfortable environment in which to work.
